Africa Day 2026 Highlights New Opportunities for Pakistan-Africa Economic Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Jul 01 :The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday hosted a grand Africa Day Celebration 2026 to explore new avenues to promote trade and business with the African countries.

The gathering brought together ambassadors, high commissioners, senior government officials and business leaders to explore opportunities in trade, investment and institutional cooperation.

Addressing the event as chief guest, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi said Pakistan’s relationship with Africa was rooted in mutual respect, shared historical struggles and a commitment to sovereignty and sustainable development. He called for greater collaboration in trade, science, higher education and people-to-people exchanges, while inviting African investors to explore opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s hydropower, minerals, agriculture and industrial sectors.

Additional Foreign Secretary for Africa Hamid Asghar Khan described Africa as a continent of immense economic opportunity. He encouraged Pakistani businesses to undertake focused trade missions and explore corporate farming opportunities in African countries.

ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to exploring trade avenues via joint ventures and institutional partnerships.

Representing the Dean of the African Group, Mauritius High Commissioner Munsoo Kurrimbaccus highlighted Africa’s youthful population, natural resources and tourism potential as key drivers of future growth.
