Pakistan’s Javeria Siddique elected IFJ Asia Pacific Gender Coordinator (2026–2029)
Media bodies hail Javeria Siddique on global achievement
Islamabad – 14 April 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : Pakistani journalist Javeria Siddique has been elected to the International Federation of Journalists Gender Council for the term 2026–2029 and will serve as the Regional Gender Coordinator for IFJ Asia Pacific.
Javeria Siddique is a renowned columnist, author, and photographer who has extensively covered diverse beats, including parliament, defence, aviation, and human rights.
In her role as Regional Gender Coordinator, she will focus on promoting gender equality, press freedom, and the safety of journalists across the Asia Pacific region. She will collaborate with member organizations to develop strategies aimed at protecting journalists and ensuring a safer working environment, both online and offline.
Her experience and unwavering dedication to press freedom make her an ideal choice for this important role. She has also led a courageous fight for justice in her husband’s case and continues to raise her voice against injustice despite facing threats and harassment.
The International Federation of Journalists is the world’s largest organization of journalists, representing over 600,000 media professionals across 146 countries. Javeria’s election reflects her strong commitment to journalism and the protection of press freedom globally.
She was further congratulated by the National Press Club Islamabad, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, and Rawalpindi Press Club on her remarkable global recognition.
