Lt General Aamar Raza Promoted to Four-Star General
Lt General Aamar Raza Promoted to Four-Star General and Appointed Commander National Strategic Command.
Rawalpindi – 25 July 2026 (MT team) : Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced the promotion of Lieutenant General Aamer Raza, HI(M), SBt, Chief of the General Staff, to the rank of Four-Star General. He has been appointed as the Commander of the Pakistan’s National Strategic Command. He was previously serving as the Chief of the General Staff of Pakistan Army.
The National Strategic Command comes under the National Command Authority (NCA). The National Command Authority was established in 2000, as the decision making body of Pakistan’s nuclear command and control. It is the apex body responsible for all policy matters including the development and employment of Pakistan’s strategic assets.
The new title was established after the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy (Amendment) Bills 2025, were passed. The Commander of the National Strategic Command post was created after the abolishment of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC)
