Pakistani Athlete to Attempt Historic 275km Ultra Run from K2 to Skardu

Islamabad – 17 July 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : A Pakistani endurance athlete Jamal Said has announced an ambitious attempt to complete a historic 275-kilometre ultra run from the K2 Base Camp (approximately 6,000 metres above sea level) to Skardu, a feat believed to be the first of its kind.

The mission aims to promote Pakistan as a premier destination for sports tourism and adventure tourism, showcasing the country’s breathtaking mountain landscapes and encouraging international trail runners, ultra runners, and endurance athletes to explore the region.

Speaking ahead of the expedition, athlete Jamal said the challenge is not only about pushing human limits but also about raising global awareness of environmental conservation. The campaign carries the message “Save the Glaciers, Save Water, Save Nature,” highlighting the urgent need to protect Pakistan’s fragile mountain ecosystems and promote sustainable adventure tourism.

He expressed gratitude to Lok Sahaita for supporting the expedition and appealed to Pakistan’s media organizations and the public to help amplify the mission nationally and internationally.

The Jamal further, said he hopes the historic run will inspire future generations, attract global adventure enthusiasts to Pakistan, and establish the K2–Skardu route as one of the world’s most iconic ultra-endurance challenges.

He urged the nation to stand behind the initiative, emphasizing that the mission represents not only a personal challenge but also an opportunity to project a positive image of Pakistan, promote responsible tourism, and celebrate the country’s natural heritage.
