Romanian Embassy Promotes Cultural Diversity and Bilateral Friendship in Pakistan
Islamabad – 9 May 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Dr. Dan Stoenescu hosted a lively and colourful gathering in Islamabad to celebrate Romania’s national day and promote the cultural richness of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The event was co-hosted by the Honorary Consul General of Romania in Peshawar, Masood Qazi, diplomats, government officials, members of the business community, civil society representatives and cultural enthusiasts.
The reception presented a vibrant and festive look as guests arrived dressed in traditional attire reflecting both Romanian and Pakistani cultures. The gathering became a beautiful blend of Eastern and European traditions, with many foreign diplomats also wearing shalwar qameez, symbolizing cultural harmony and friendship between the two nations.

Romanian Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu during his opening remarks welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of celebrating cultural diversity and people-to-people connections. According to media reports, he said relations between Romania and Pakistan had grown from cordial to excellent over the years and were now touching new horizons in different sectors, including education, trade, culture and diplomacy.
The ambassador expressed optimism that bilateral relations would further strengthen in the coming years through enhanced cooperation and increased exchanges between the two friendly countries. He appreciated the contribution of the Pakistani community as well as Romanian nationals working to promote mutual understanding and friendship.

Masood Qazi, Honorary Consul General of Romania in Peshawar, emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in bringing nations closer and said events of this nature help strengthen ties between the people of Romania and Pakistan. He particularly highlighted the cultural richness and hospitality of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was prominently featured during the evening.
The reception offered guests a delightful culinary experience with traditional Peshawari cuisine taking centre stage. Renowned dishes such as namkeen gosht, Kabuli pulao, Peshawari chicken karahi and various lamb specialties reflected the province’s rich food culture and hospitality.

Adding colour and excitement to the evening, traditional dance performances entertained the audience throughout the event. Romanian nationals also performed folk dances that were highly admired by attendees.
