Thai Armed Forces Day

The Royal Thai Armed Forces Day was commemorated in Islamabad with a reception hosted by Thai Defence Attaché Colonel Nikhom Chumpoo, highlighting the growing defence cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan. Vice Admiral Syed Ahmed Salman, Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, attended the event as the chief guest, alongside Thailand’s Ambassador to Pakistan Rongvudhi Virabutr, diplomats, defence officials, and distinguished guests.

In his address, Colonel Chumpoo described the occasion as a tribute to the dedication, discipline, and service of Thailand’s armed forces. He noted that the day also honours those who sacrificed their lives in defence of Thailand’s sovereignty and acknowledges the ongoing role of Thai military personnel in maintaining national security and regional stability.

He emphasized the long-standing friendship between Thailand and Pakistan, which dates back to the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1951. Defence cooperation between the two countries has steadily expanded, particularly following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation in 2021. The agreement provides a framework for dialogue, professional exchanges, and training between the armed forces of both nations
