PNCA INAUGURATES “WHAT-REMAINS-TO-BE-SEEN” – A SOLO EXHIBITION BY NUSRATJI

Islamabad – 14 October, 2026 (MT Team) : Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) inaugurated a landmark solo exhibition titled “WHAT REMAINS TO BE SEEN” by distinguished impressionist painter NusratJi at the National Art Gallery, Islamabad.

The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for National Heritage & Culture Division, along with prominent dignitaries including Sultana Siddiqui, CEO Hum Network, Asad ur Rehman Gilani, Secretary NH&CD, Durraid Qureshi, Co-Founder Hum TV, and Ayoub Jamali, Director General, PNCA.

The exhibition is presented in two galleries: (1) IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE – featuring projected imagery, light and sound (2) DRAWING & PAINTING – featuring original paintings and 50 drawing studies.

It is an immersive visual experience exploring memory, perception, and the shifting space between what is seen and what remains unseen.

Speakers on the occasion included Dr. Arjumand Faisel, Dr. Mamoona Khan, and Sajjad Haider. They spoke about Ms. Nusrat’s paintings, drawings and the concept of the immersive exhibition, highlighting her expressive palette knife technique, iconic horse paintings, and her deep connection with Pakistan’s cultural heritage, landscapes, architecture and folk traditions.

Addressing the audience, NusratJi talked about her artistic journey spanning over four decades and thanked all those who helped her make this exhibition possible, especially Ayoub Jamali, DG PNCA and Mariam Ahmed, Director-VAD, and her team. Waheed Latif, curator of the immersive exhibition and his team, says press note.

In her statement, she shared, “If colour has its charm, line has its own ecstasy.” The exhibition features 100 studies alongside original paintings, drawn from life around her – Thar Series, Folk Lores, Horses, architecture, calligraphy and nature – all carrying energy, action and an inner rhythm of her own.

Sultana Siddiqui appreciated the powerful social commentary in her drawings of rural women in interiors, depicting their hard work and resilience with a ‘faceless’ appearance, a poignant subject to ponder upon.

NusratJi is one of Pakistan’s most distinguished impressionist painters with over 25 solo exhibitions and extensive international exhibitions across the UK, Canada, USA, UAE, Bahrain, and beyond She has made a significant contribution to Pakistan’s visual arts landscape.

The exhibition is open for public viewing at the National Art Gallery, PNCA, Islamabad, until 27th October, 2026. Saturdays closed.
