The government of Pakistan has launched a Rs 20 billion Ramadan package to support low-income families during Ramadan 2025. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that 4 million households (approximately 20 million people) will receive Rs 5,000 each through a digital wallet. He emphasized that inflation during Ramadan is lower this year compared to previous years, and the allocated amount has increased significantly from Rs 7 billion last year to Rs 20 billion.
The Punjab government has also introduced the Nigehban Ramazan project, under which 3 million households will receive Rs 10,000 each. Distribution began on February 25, facilitated by Pakistan Post in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab (BoP). The process is being closely monitored to ensure smooth execution, with a temporary ban on leave and transfer of postal staff until the project is completed.
Similarly, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has announced Ramadan and Eid relief packages for over one million families, providing Rs 10,000 per household through banks and EasyPaisa to ensure transparency. The provincial government will cover all bank charges, ensuring full payment reaches the recipients before the 15th of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, the moon for Ramadan 1446 Hijri was not sighted in Pakistan, meaning the first fast (roza) will be observed on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
With an increased budget for federal and provincial relief efforts, the Pakistani government aims to provide substantial financial assistance to millions during the holy month. Stay updated on the latest Ramadan relief initiatives by subscribing to our newsletter!
