Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving community health by organising a three-day free eye camp in Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan, in collaboration with Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital. Held at THQ Hospital Sadiqabad from April 7 to 9, 2026, the initiative brought essential ophthalmic services to thousands of deserving patients, strengthening access to quality healthcare in underserved communities.
The eye camp offered a comprehensive range of medical services, including outpatient consultations (OPD), diagnostic eye screening, cataract phaco surgeries, laboratory testing, free medicines, prescription lenses, and eyeglasses. The initiative aimed to ensure that patients received timely diagnosis and treatment, helping prevent avoidable vision loss and improve their quality of life.
During the three-day medical camp, 4,906 patients underwent detailed eye examinations through OPD consultations. Medical teams also distributed 1,324 vision glasses, 441 post-surgery glasses, and 530 special glasses to patients requiring corrective vision support.
To ensure safe and effective treatment, 441 patients received laboratory screening for hepatitis, HIV, and blood sugar before surgery. The camp successfully completed 441 cataract phaco surgeries, restoring sight to hundreds of individuals who may otherwise have faced permanent visual impairment.
The initiative forms part of OGDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which focuses on improving healthcare, education, and community welfare across Pakistan. By partnering with renowned healthcare institutions such as Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, OGDC continues to bridge healthcare gaps in remote and underserved regions.
Access to quality eye care remains a significant challenge in many parts of Pakistan, where preventable blindness often results from delayed diagnosis and limited medical facilities. Programmes such as the Sadiqabad eye camp demonstrate how public-private collaboration can make specialised healthcare accessible to vulnerable populations.
Beyond restoring vision, the camp also enhanced community awareness about eye health, encouraging early medical consultation and preventive care. Hundreds of families benefited from free treatment, reducing both healthcare costs and the long-term social impact of visual impairment.
Through initiatives like this, OGDC continues to demonstrate that corporate responsibility extends beyond business operations, creating meaningful social impact by investing in healthcare services that improve lives and strengthen communities across Pakistan.
