Member of European Parliament Ondřej Dostál calls on NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq
Islamabad – 10 August 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Member of the European Parliament Ondřej Dostál at Parliament House, Islamabad, on Monday. During the meeting, matters relating to Pakistan-European Union relations, as well as important regional and global issues, were discussed, says press note.
The Speaker said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with the European Union and stressed the need to further strengthen parliamentary ties between Pakistan and the EU. He said that there were vast opportunities to expand mutual cooperation between the two sides in various fields.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that climate change is a global challenge requiring collective and effective action at the international level. He has said that Pakistan is among the countries most vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change, despite having a very small share in global greenhouse gas emissions. He said that the Green Parliament initiative of the National Assembly was a practical manifestation of Parliament’s commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of renewable energy.
The Speaker said that the present National Assembly had made significant progress in legislation, parliamentary reforms and matters of public importance. He said that the establishment of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, Child Parliamentary Caucus and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Secretariat were important parliamentary initiatives. He added that Parliament was further strengthening its role in promoting the rights of women and children and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also appreciated the reforms and development initiatives undertaken in various sectors in Punjab. He particularly highlighted progress in teacher training, technical and vocational education and other sectors, describing these initiatives as commendable.
The Speaker said that Pakistan possessed a vast pool of talented and skilled human resources from which the European Union could benefit. He said that there were vast opportunities for cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union in the fields of education, skilled workforce development, training and employment.
While mentioning about Pakistan’s role in regional and global peace, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Pakistan’s efforts for promoting peace and stability in the region were being appreciated by the international community. He reiterated that Pakistan desired sustainable peace and stability in the region and the world.He said that Pakistan gave priority to dialogue and diplomatic means for the peaceful resolution of all disputes.
The Speaker said that Pakistan’s role in helping ease tensions between Iran and the United States reflected its commitment to the promotion of peace and stability. He added that Pakistan would continue to play its role in promoting dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Member of the European Parliament Ondřej Dostál appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace, parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation. He said that friendly and mutually respectful relations between Pakistan and the European Union were of great importance.
