A high-level meeting was convened at the Chief Minister House in Karachi following a major security breach at Malir Jail, where over 200 prisoners managed to escape. The incident has raised serious concerns about the state of prison security and possible internal negligence or facilitation. During the meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister of Sindh, it was decided to remove the Inspector General (IG) of Prisons from his position with immediate effect. Senior officials from the police, prisons, and home departments were present. The government has launched an inquiry into the jailbreak and ordered enhanced security at all prisons across Sindh. Law enforcement agencies have initiated search operations to locate and apprehend the escaped inmates. The provincial government has assured the public that strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken against those found responsible. This unprecedented escape has put a spotlight on weaknesses within the prison administration and security system.
