COMSATS University Honours Graduates at Inaugural Alumni Excellence Awards 2026
Islamabad – 4 July, 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) hosted the inaugural Alumni Excellence Awards 2026 at its Principal Seat, Islamabad, on Friday, recognizing distinguished graduates in industry, public service, entrepreneurship, and research.
Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Rector CUI presided over the ceremony as Chief Guest. The Alumni Excellence Awards represent a major milestone in CUI’s efforts to strengthen lifelong engagement with its alumni community, which now comprises more than 117,000 graduates serving in leadership positions across Pakistan and around the world, says press note. The awards are intended to become an annual feature, celebrating alumni whose accomplishments embody the University’s enduring commitment to excellence, innovation, integrity, and service to humanity.
The recipients were selected through a comprehensive, merit-based evaluation process conducted across all seven campuses.Addressing the ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar congratulated the award recipients and finalists, noting that the accomplishments of CUI alumni are a reflection of the University’s continued pursuit of academic excellence and its commitment to developing graduates capable of making meaningful contributions to society.He emphasized that a university’s relationship with its students does not end at graduation, but evolves into a lifelong partnership. He said that CUI intends to engage its accomplished alumni more actively in mentoring students, supporting research and innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, strengthening industry linkages, and contributing to the University’s strategic development.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Prof. Dr. Majid Iqbal Khan, In-Charge, Islamabad Campus, observed that the achievements of CUI alumni across academia, industry, entrepreneurship, public administration are a testimony to quality of education imparted across its campuses.
The Alumni Excellence Award in Professional Achievement was presented to Dr. Syed Muzahir Abbas (Islamabad Campus), an internationally recognized antenna and wireless communications expert, Lead Antenna Design Engineer at GME Australia, holder of more than twenty international patents, and an accomplished researcher with extensive leadership roles in IEEE. The runners-up in this category were Mr. Atif Awan (Abbottabad Campus) and Dr. Anum Ali (Islamabad Campus).
The Alumni Excellence Award in Innovation & Entrepreneurship was conferred upon Mr. Furqan Aziz (Lahore Campus), Founder and CEO of InvoZone, whose technology company serves clients in over 120 countries and employs more than 500 software engineers. The runners-up were Mr. Mohsin Sadbarg (Attock Campus) and Mr. Umer Shoaib (Sahiwal Campus).
The Alumni Excellence Award in Social Impact & Community Service was awarded to Dr. Muhammad Rehan Rasheed (Virtual Campus), CEO of MediaTiz Foundation, whose pioneering work in digital citizenship, media literacy, and public engagement has reached millions of learners across Pakistan. The runners-up were Mr. Junaid Hassan (Attock Campus) and Mr. Muhammad Adeel Javed (Lahore Campus).
The Distinguished Young Alumni Award was presented to Ms. Ifrah Tehleel (Lahore Campus) in recognition of her exceptional achievements in Pakistan’s competitive civil service examinations and her emergence as an inspiring young public servant. The runners-up in this category were Mr. Muhammad Fahad Khan (Attock Campus) and Mr. Muneeb-Ul-Hassan (Wah Campus).
The ceremony brought together alumni, faculty members, students, parents and senior University leadership in a celebration of excellence, achievement, and service.
By institutionalizing the Alumni Excellence Awards, COMSATS University Islamabad seeks to deepen engagement with its alumni, strengthen mentoring and collaboration across generations of COMSIANS, and inspire current students through examples of leadership, innovation, and public service.
