Breag Brag About Your Breast Cancer Awareness

BREAG, is an inspiring social enterprise, challenging norms, breaking taboos and stitching hope taboos hope - one bag at a time. More than just a fashion accessory, BREAG stands as a powerful symbol that breast cancer awareness can be seamlessly integrated into our everyday lives—both figuratively and literally.

From Bras to Bags
At the helm of this innovative project is a breast cancer survivor with a vision, Gina Provo Kluit-Gonesh. She launched BREAG after moving to Pakistan with her diplomat husband. Inspired by her journey, she transformed her old wired bras, once tied to her survival story, into symbols of empowerment. BREAG repurposes these second-hand bras into stylish bags, aiming to raise awareness about breast health and provide income for underprivileged women in Pakistan. Each bag, made from bra cups, serves as a conversation starter, encouraging women to perform self-examinations and break the silence around breast cancer, while also creating livelihood opportunities for women in need.

Designer Bags
BREAG’s bags are designed by Dutch bag designers Leontine Hagoort and Ilse Veening, who contributed their expertise voluntarily, infusing each piece with creativity and compassion.

A Stitch of Solidarity
The enterprise doesn’t just stop at raising awareness; it gives underprivileged women the chance to earn a fair wage. In a country where women's employment opportunities can be scarce, BREAG has partnered with local workshops, to train women to stitch the bags by hand.
The heart of BREAG beats strongest when you learn where the proceeds go. Every sale contributes directly to purchasing biopsy needles for women who cannot afford them.

Fighting Taboo
On September 23rd, BREAG marked a significant milestone by donating its first funds to the Breast Cancer Foundation, helping countless women access life-saving biopsy needles. This gesture is not just an act of charity; it’s a clarion call for communities to rally aroundv women battling this disease. It’s a reminder that breast cancer is not a solitary fight; it’s a journey that demands empathy, support, and financial assistance.
Breast cancer shouldn’t be a topic whispered in corners or brushed under the rug. BREAG’s bags serve as a proud emblem of survival and solidarity. Wearing one isn’t just a fashion choice; it’s a declaration, a chance to “brag about your BREAG” and to ignite conversations about self-care, early detection, and the power of collective support.

Beyond the Bag
The dream? A world where every purchase of a BREAG bag contributes to a larger cause—raising awareness, reducing poverty, and ultimately, fighting breast cancer alongside those who need it most. BREAG’s founder hopes that every stitch, every sale, and every shared story will help dismantle the stigma surrounding breast cancer and make preventive screenings accessible to all women, regardless of their financial status.
So, the next time you think of fashion, think beyond trends. Think of the hands that crafted the bag, the women who fight battles every day, and the community that stands with them. Wear your BREAG with pride and become part of a story that’s not just about bags—but about bravery, resilience, and change.
