Thailand and Pakistan Seek Stronger Defence Industrial Ties Through GIDS Engagement
Rawalpindi – 28 October 2026 – (MT Team) : Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, accompanied by Col. Nikom Chumpoo, Defense and Military AttachĂ©, and embassy officials, visited the facilities of Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi where they held discussions with Asad Kamal, GIDS Chief Executive Officer, and other executives.
Key areas of discussion included, Joint research and development of technologies to address emerging security challenges. Promotion of defence industry cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan.
During the visit, the Ambassador and his delegation received a presentation on GIDS’s mandates and toured an exhibition of equipment mock-ups, reflecting GIDS’s strong commitment to expanding cooperation with Thailand.
Established in 2007, GIDS is a state-owned defence industry enterprise operating under the management of Defence Forces Headquarters. It serves as a single window that connects defence equipment manufacturers with defence technology research and development organisations. It is responsible for the development and export of weapon systems and defence equipment for armed forces and other agencies, both within and outside Pakistan. Its portfolio covers land, naval, and air operations, as well as nuclear, biological and chemical defence systems and various security solutions.
