Chinese New Year Festivities

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Islamabad hosted a vibrant celebration of the Chinese New Year 2026 (the Year of the Horse) combined with an Iftar dinner on February 21, 2026. The event theme (Opening the Door to the Great New Year: China-Pakistan Hand in Hand), brought together dignitaries, diplomats, community leaders, and friends from both nations. It marked the Spring Festival while observing Ramadan, with attendees breaking their fast together in a spirit of shared joy, cultural harmony, and mutual respect.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik served as the chief guest, underscoring Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its unbreakable partnership with China and the vital role of bilateral cooperation in energy and economic development. Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, also attended, emphasizing the strategic ties that continue to drive mutual prosperity, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, presided over the occasion. In his warm remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the Year of the Horse as a symbol of energy, perseverance, and swift progress, expressing confidence that China-Pakistan relations will gallop forward with deepened economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges in the year ahead.
