High Commissioner Azhar Mazlan Pays Tribute to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at Iranian Embassy in Islamabad
Islamabad – 4 March 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, signed the Book of Condolence at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad on 4 March 2026, following the passing of Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ambassador Azhar conveyed Malaysia’s deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government and people of Iran during this solemn moment of national mourning. He acknowledged the significant role played by the late Supreme Leader in shaping Iran’s political direction and regional posture over several decades.

In light of the current regional climate, the High Commissioner also underscored Malaysia’s consistent position in advocating restraint, dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes. He expressed hope that calm and stability would prevail across the Middle East during this sensitive transition period, noting that developments in Iran carry broader implications to peace and security of the region and beyond.

Malaysia remains committed to constructive engagement with Iran and the international community, guided by the principles of mutual respect and non-interference, while respecting nations’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.
