OGDC Discovers Gas and Condensate at Bitrism East-1 in Khairpur, Sindh

Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has announced a significant gas and condensate discovery at the Bitrism East-1 exploratory well located in District Khairpur, Sindh. Operating the Bitrism Exploration License with a 95% working interest, alongside Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holding 5%, OGDC continues to reinforce its leadership in Pakistan’s upstream energy sector.

The Bitrism East-1 well was drilled using OGDC’s in-house technical expertise, supported by GHPL as a joint venture partner. The exploration team conducted two successful Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) in the Lower Goru Formation—specifically targeting the Massive Sands and Basal Sands. Wireline log interpretation confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons, leading to highly promising test results.

Both DSTs validated the availability of producible reserves, with the well demonstrating a combined production potential of 22.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 690 barrels of condensate per day (BCD) at a 32/64” choke. These results mark Bitrism East-1 as a commercially viable and strategically impactful discovery.

This achievement highlights OGDC’s continued commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s energy security through indigenous hydrocarbon exploration. As the nation navigates growing energy needs, such discoveries play a crucial role in reducing the supply-demand gap while supporting long-term economic stability.

With Bitrism East-1, OGDC once again demonstrates its capability, technological expertise, and dedication to unlocking Pakistan’s subsurface potential.
