Embassy of Japan Marks 71st Japan Self-Defense Forces Day

The Embassy of Japan in Pakistan hosted a grand reception to celebrate the 71st Anniversary of Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) Day, highlighting Japan’s contributions to peace, stability, and humanitarian efforts worldwide. Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi welcomed guests alongside Colonel Abe Kazuo, Japan’s Defense Attaché. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defense, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, attended as the chief guest. The event began with national anthems and a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by addresses reaffirming the strong Japan–Pakistan friendship. Ambassador Akamatsu expressed condolences over Pakistan’s recent floods and reaffirmed Japan’s continued support in disaster management and recovery.

He also highlighted Japan’s participation in the multinational naval exercise AMAN 25, professional exchanges between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and Pakistan’s defense institutions, and upcoming Japan-Pakistan Military Consultations in December 2025.

Reflecting on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the ambassador reiterated Japan’s firm commitment to peace and nuclear disarmament. He also praised Pakistan’s creative participation in Expo 2025 Osaka–Kansai, where the Pakistan Pavilion attracted over 1.5 million visitors.
