Sindh launching first tech zone in Karachi’s Education City.

The Sindh government has received formal approval to establish its first Special Technology Zone (STZ) on a 500-acre site within Karachi Education City, Gadap. Modeled on global innovation hubs like Silicon Valley, the STZ is set to become a center of high-tech development and cross-sector collaboration.

The zone is strategically designed to foster innovation in key industries, including automation, cybersecurity, blockchain, health tech, agri-tech, 5G, and clean energy. By uniting academia, research institutions, and the private sector, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between knowledge and commercialization—fueling sustainable economic growth.

This ambitious project is already drawing significant attention. Eight major domestic and international investors have expressed interest, a strong indicator of the zone’s economic promise. The STZ is expected to serve as a catalyst for job creation, boost tech-based exports, and position Karachi as a leading innovation and digital trade hub in the region.

Officials note that the STZ will also include modern infrastructure, tax incentives, and streamlined regulatory processes to attract startups, SMEs, and multinational companies. Educational institutions within the vicinity will play a vital role by providing skilled talent and contributing to cutting-edge research.

The Karachi STZ marks a pivotal step in Sindh’s journey toward a knowledge-based economy, promoting technology-driven solutions that can improve lives, increase productivity, and place Pakistan firmly on the global innovation map.
