PTI Snubs Security Briefing in Protest of Imran’s Jailing

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has refused to participate in a high-level national security briefing convened to address the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India. The party cited the incarceration of its founder, Imran Khan, as the primary reason for its boycott, arguing that meaningful dialogue on national security issues is incomplete without Khan’s involvement. PTI leaders reiterated their demand for his release to enable full representation in discussions critical to Pakistan’s future.

In stark contrast, prominent political figures from other parties, including PML-N’s Khurram Dastgir and MQM’s Dr. Farooq Sattar, took part in the briefing. The session was led by Director General ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar. Key points of discussion included Pakistan’s defense preparedness and evolving diplomatic strategies in light of growing regional instability.

The ruling coalition expressed disappointment at PTI’s absence, accusing the party of placing political loyalty above national interests. They emphasized the need for unity across the political spectrum during moments of heightened external threats. The boycott has sparked debate across the country, with many questioning the balance between political principle and national responsibility in times of crisis.
