Yermekbayev and Khan Reaffirm Commitment to Expanding SCO–ECO Collaboration
SCO Plus Meeting Preparations in Tianjin Discussed by Yermekbayev and Asad Khan
Islamabad – 29 August 2025 (Adnan Hameed) : On August 29, 2025, Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad M. Khan, who is in the People’s Republic of China to participate in the events of the SCO summit, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The interlocutors had a thorough exchange of views on the state and prospects of developing cooperation between the two associations on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding dated 2007, as well as on issues discussed at the previous meeting in Tehran, according to the press note.
N.Yermekbayev informed A.Khan about the preparations for the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO member States and the SCO Plus meeting, which will be held on August 31 – September 1, 2025 in Tianjin.
The meeting was held in a warm and constructive atmosphere.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the SCO and ECO Secretariats was signed on December 11, 2007 in Ashgabat.
The document establishes the intention of the parties to develop cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, transport, energy, ecology, tourism and other areas of mutual interest.
