Visit Malaysia 2026 promotion ends in Islamabad with cultural showcases and high public turnout

Islamabad – 26 November 2025 (Adnan Hameed): The closing ceremony of the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 Promotion concluded with grace and vibrancy at Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, presided over the ceremony along with officials from the High Commission.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Azhar Mazlan expressed gratitude for the active participation of visitors, cultural performers, and partner organisations throughout the three-day event. He expressed satisfaction over the successful promotional activities and formally announced the conclusion of the programme.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the High Commissioner distributing certificates to the members of the Malaysian cultural troupe from the State of Pahang. The troupe had travelled from Malaysia to perform at both the PFOWA Charity Bazaar on 23 November and the three-day VMY 2026 Promotion, earning warm applause from audiences for their colourful and captivating performances.

Throughout the event, a significant number of visitors gathered to experience Malaysian cultural showcases, culinary offerings, tourism information booths, and interactive activities.
Representatives from various travel agencies guided visitors regarding Malaysian tourism opportunities and visa procedures.
Speaking to the correspondent, Ms. Rehana Khan, a first-time attendee, shared her excitement: “I came for shopping with my family and discovered this event by chance. The Malaysian cultural performances were truly enjoyable.”
As the final day concluded, several visitors showcased their singing talent and received gifts from the organisers, adding a lively touch to the closing moments of the programme.
Earlier, the opening ceremony of the Visit Malaysia 2026 – “Malaysia Truly Asia” promotion was attended by all ASEAN Heads of Mission in Islamabad. During the ceremony, High Commissioner Dato’ Azhar Mazlan highlighted Malaysia’s preparations to welcome 35 million international visitors in 2026, reaffirming the country’s commitment to offering travellers a rich and memorable experience.

The event underscored the longstanding and friendly relationship between Malaysia and Pakistan while promoting Southeast Asia as a vibrant and attractive tourism region.
