Türkiye, Pakistan Team Up to Tap Huge Offshore Oil & Gas Reserves

Türkiye and Pakistan have entered into a landmark agreement to jointly explore what is believed to be the world’s fourth-largest offshore oil and gas reserves, located in Pakistan’s Makran and Indus basins. This strategic energy partnership marks a significant step toward enhancing regional energy security and economic collaboration between the two nations.

Under the agreement, Türkiye’s state-run Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) will collaborate with key Pakistani energy entities, including Mari Energies, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL). The cooperation aims to leverage advanced exploration technology, regional expertise, and joint investment to unlock the vast untapped energy potential beneath Pakistan’s offshore territories.

The deal was formalized during the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum held in Islamabad, drawing attention from global stakeholders and signaling Pakistan’s commitment to becoming a major player in the international energy market. Both nations emphasized the importance of sustainable energy development and attracting foreign investment to boost economic resilience and regional cooperation.

As global energy demands rise, this initiative not only paves the way for new energy sources but also strengthens the Türkiye-Pakistan partnership across strategic sectors.
