Thai-Pak Bond Celebrated Through Cinema and Water Fest

Connecting Thai-Pak Hearts and Souls through the joy of Cinema and Water Splashing

Lahroe – 9 July 2025 ( Royal Thai Embassy): Thailand and Pakistan share many common values: deep friendships, mutual respect, vibrant traditions, and a joyful way of life. Yet it seems that we are not that close and there is certainly more to be done to deepen our profound and soulful bond!

This is why the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad recently brought the sights, sounds, and spirit of Thailand to life through two unforgettable events in Lahore, aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding and Thailand as an exciting, welcoming destination for Pakistani travelers. On June 20, 2025, the Movie Night at Ali Institute of Education became an enjoyable and powerful bridge, in which shared narratives on screen allowed our hearts to touch, sparking empathy and a deeper sense of common humanity through the Thai animated film “Khan Kluay.” Audiences were further encouraged to continue their exploration of an expanding collection of Thai dramas, thrillers, and family favorites.

The very next day, June 21, 2025, the Water Festival: Splashing for Happiness at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) offered a chance for joyous, lively celebration of Songkran of the Thai New Year despite of the hot weather. Participants were treated to an afternoon of Thai food, activities and performances on stage ranging from Muay Thai demonstration to Som Tum (papaya salad) competition as well as taking part in friendly water fights and traditional Thai water games.

This UNESCO-recognized tradition is nonetheless far more than just playful splashing to beat the heat; it’s a vibrant demonstration of boundless fun and gratitude that represents the “splash” of Thailand which in many ways are profoundly similar to the spirit of the Pakistani culture.

These two events, the Movie Night and the Water Festival, are a real testament to how cultural diplomacy can create intimate and meaningful connections. They prove that when we share our joys, our hearts connect, and our relationship blossoms. This propels the dream of seeing our Pakistani friends visiting in ever-increasing numbers; our ambitious but feasible aim is to double Pakistani visitors to Thailand, from 50,000 to an incredible 100,000 annually!

To do this, Thailand strives to become an ultimate “Halal Destination” where Muslim travelers are not merely accommodated, but genuinely welcomed. With over a thousand mosques, a rapidly growing network of halal-certified restaurants, and accommodations meticulously attuned to Muslim travelers’ needs, our Pakistani friends can easily cast aside any lingering whispers of doubt about comfort or convenience. Whether it’s the serene shores of Krabi or the bustling heart of Bangkok, you’ll find open arms and genuine care, as Pakistani influencers and media professionals experienced firsthand in their recent halal-focused familiarisation trips to these two touristic cities.

So, we invite you to embark on this incredible fun-filled journey together and forge an even stronger, more joyous friendship. For this is not just a tourism opportunity, but a foundation for greater understanding, friendship, and cooperation.

We look forward to welcoming you on your next adventure in the Land of Smiles in order to experience the warmth of Thai hospitality for yourself!
