Commemorative Plaques Unveiled for Bilateral Educational and Sports Projects

Islamabad – 4 February 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : In a landmark ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, jointly unveiled commemorative plaques marking the establishment of key sports and educational centers aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
During the event, the dignitaries inaugurated the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Dostik Sports Center, a significant initiative to enhance collaboration in the field of sports. The center is expected to serve as a hub for youth engagement, sports training, and the promotion of friendly exchanges between the two countries, says press note.
In addition, commemorative plaques were unveiled for the establishment of three new educational centers, designed to foster academic cooperation, research collaboration, and student exchange programs between Pakistani and Kazakh universities. These include:
* Technical Research Center :– a joint initiative among three leading universities from both countries to promote advanced research and innovation.
* Ahmet Yassawi Research Center :– dedicated to cultural, historical, and scientific studies in the spirit of mutual cooperation.
* Al-Farabi Center :– aimed at strengthening academic ties and facilitating collaborative educational programs.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that these initiatives symbolize the “deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership” between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, highlighting the shared commitment to youth development, education, and sports diplomacy. President Tokayev, while lauding Pakistan’s efforts in promoting educational and sports excellence, noted that these centers will provide lasting platforms for collaboration, innovation, and cultural exchange.
The ceremony marks a significant milestone in Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations, reinforcing ties not only in diplomacy and trade but also in education, sports, and research sectors.
