Saudi Arabia opens Itikaf Registration for Makkah and Madinah

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah has announced the opening of registration for Itikaf, a sacred spiritual retreat observed in the last ten days of Ramadan. Registration will begin on Wednesday, March 5, at 11 am via the authority’s official website and will remain open until all available slots are filled.

Itikaf at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque will commence on Ramadan 20 (March 20) and continue until the end of the holy month. The authority has confirmed that permits will be issued exclusively through its online platform, ensuring compliance with specific conditions and criteria set for participants. Worshippers seeking to engage in this deeply spiritual practice are encouraged to complete the registration process as early as possible to secure their place.

Itikaf is a profound act of worship where participants dedicate themselves to prayer, Quran recitation, and devotion, following the traditions of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him). Worshippers spend their time in complete seclusion within the mosque, free from worldly distractions, focusing entirely on spiritual growth. Many individuals choose to eat and sleep within the sacred premises, further immersing themselves in the divine experience.

With Ramadan beginning in Saudi Arabia on March 1, thousands of worshippers are expected to take part in Itikaf at the two holy mosques. This annual retreat allows Muslims to strengthen their faith, engage in deep reflection, and seek spiritual purification during the most blessed days of the year.
