Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets today to sight Muharram moon.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet today to sight the moon marking the beginning of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. The meeting will determine the start of the new Islamic year and the date for Youm-e-Ashura, a significant day observed by Muslims, especially in remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA). Regional committees across the country will also convene simultaneously and report their observations. The final announcement will be made by the Central Committee based on collective input.
