Pakistan’s bright future depends on scientific advancement
Shoulder: Honest leaders can play prominent role in Country’s development
KARACHI – 13 August 2025 (MT Team) : Renowned Pakistani scientist and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, has said that only sincere and honest leaders can play a prominent role in the growth and development of Pakistan.
He said that this country was achieved after great sacrifices, and on this Independence Day, young scientists should pledge to lead the country on the path of progress through their outstanding performance in the field of science.
He expressed these views while addressing a special ceremony titled “Independence Celebration” held on Wednesday at the Prof. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi. The event was organized by ICCBS, University of Karachi.
ICCBS Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, also addressed the gathering, which was well attended by a large number of faculty members, staff, and students of the institution. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman said that Pakistan must make remarkable progress in the fields of education and science; otherwise, it will be difficult to achieve the true objectives of national development.
Prof. Raza Shah said that the bright future of Pakistan depends on scientific and educational advancement, adding that the real building and development of the country lies in the progress made in science and technology. He stressed that it is the responsibility of our youth to work diligently in the fields of science and education, as the solution to all of Pakistan’s problems lies in achieving substantial progress in higher education, science, and technology. Referring to the recent wars between Pakistan and India, and between Iran and Israel, he said that these conflicts have highlighted the importance of education, science, and technology worldwide.
Earlier, Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman and Prof. Muhammad Raza Shah, along with faculty, staff, and students, not only hoisted the national flag at ICCBS but also cut the Independence Day cake. Later, during the ceremony, students and staff paid tribute to the founders of Pakistan and the elders who sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom through speeches, poetry, and patriotic songs.
