Moroccan King has accepted President Donald J. Trump’s invitation to become a Founding Member of the Peace Council (MAE)
Rabat – 20 January 2026 (MT Team) : His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has received an invitation from His Excellency Mr. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, to join, as a Founding Member, the Peace Council that the American President plans to launch as an initiative aimed at “contributing to peace efforts in the Middle East and adopting a new approach to resolving conflicts in the world”, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad.
Participation in this Council is reserved for a select group of internationally renowned leaders committed to a secure and prosperous future for generations to come, the statement specifies, adding that this invitation recognizes the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, may God assist him, and his stature as an indispensable peacemaker. It testifies to the trust the Sovereign enjoys with the President of the United States and the international community.
While commending President Donald Trump’s commitment and vision to promoting peace, His Majesty the King, graciously accepted this invitation. In this context, the Kingdom of Morocco will ratify the Charter establishing this Council.
The Peace Council will take the legal form of an international organization whose mission is to promote stability, restore governance, and guarantee lasting peace in areas affected or threatened by conflict. The mandate of this major body will be based on practical cooperation, effective action, and partnerships geared toward tangible results. Participation in this Council is exclusively by invitation of the President of the United States of America.
Furthermore, the Kingdom of Morocco welcomes the announcement of the launch of the second phase of President Trump’s comprehensive peace plan, as well as the official creation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza as a temporary transitional body.
Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, reiterates its constant commitment to a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East, enabling the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side-by-side and in peace with Israel, the statement concludes.
