Bolan, Balochistan – March 11, 2025: The Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was ambushed by militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in the Bolan district of Balochistan. The attackers detonated explosives on the tracks, forcing the train to stop before taking over 400 passengers hostage, including security personnel.
The BLA militants demanded the release of their imprisoned members, threatening to execute hostages if their conditions were not met. This act marks another escalation in the Balochistan insurgency, where separatist groups have intensified their attacks against the state.
In response, Pakistani security forces launched an immediate rescue operation, successfully liberating over 150 hostages and eliminating 27 militants. However, the mission faced significant challenges as some insurgents wore suicide vests and used hostages as human shields.
This terror attack on Jaffar Express highlights the ongoing security crisis in Balochistan, where separatist movements continue to challenge the state’s authority. The Pakistani military has vowed to continue operations against terrorist groups to ensure regional stability.
Authorities are continuing operations to rescue the remaining hostages, while the federal government has condemned the attack, calling for increased security measures on railway networks.
