Embassy of Indonesia Honors Heroes Through “Donate Blood, Save Lives” Campaign

Indonesian Ambassador Highlights Blood Donors’ Role at Islamabad Event

Islamabad, August 12, 2025 (Adnan Hameed) In a heartfelt gesture to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia and the 75th Anniversary of Indonesia–Pakistan Bilateral Relations, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Islamabad organized a blood donation campaign under the theme “Donate Blood, Save Lives.”

Held in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the event took place within the premises of the Indonesian Embassy and brought together diplomats, students, and members of the community in a shared act of solidarity and compassion.

The Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan, Chandra W. Sukotjo along with the Deputy Ambassador, embassy staff, Indonesian students, and members of the Pakistani community actively participated in the blood donation. The drive aimed not only to meet urgent medical needs but also to honor the sacrifices of heroes who fought for freedom and a better future.

During his opening remarks, the Indonesian Ambassador said the blood donation drive, held under the theme “Donate Blood, Save Lives,” paid tribute to millions of unsung heroes who save lives daily and served as a reminder of the extraordinary impact of blood donors in the community.

He conveyed that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had instructed all Indonesian officials, including ambassadors worldwide, to mark the country’s 80th Independence Day in a simple yet meaningful and impactful way. The event was part of efforts to fulfill this directive while also marking the 75th anniversary of Indonesia–Pakistan bilateral relations.

Highlighting the day’s significance, the Ambassador announced that the Indonesian Embassy and PRCS had agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on humanitarian and emergency cooperation. Calling it “the beginning,” he expressed excitement for tangible outcomes from the collaboration, emphasizing the need for innovation, teamwork, and friendship.

He encouraged both sides to continue joint activities, programs, and projects to benefit people, stressing that no single institution could address future challenges alone, and partnerships were a necessity.

Furthermore, the Ambassador recognized the selfless contributions of all blood donors, noting that their decision to prioritize blood donation despite busy schedules had given life to many. He thanked PRCS Chairperson Farzana Naek for gracing the event along with her team and acknowledged the society’s role in making blood donation more accessible and convenient.

Concluding his remarks, the Ambassador extended greetings to Pakistan ahead of its Independence Day on 14 August, saying, “Jashan-e-Azaadi Mubarak” and ending with, “Indonesia and Pakistan, Doshti Zindabad!”

Participants expressed enthusiasm for being part of an event that strengthens people-to-people connections while directly contributing to saving lives.

The campaign underscored the Embassy’s commitment to humanitarian causes and reinforced the warm diplomatic, cultural, and social ties that have flourished between the two nations over the past 75 years.
