Cairo–Islamabad Dialogue Focuses on Enlightened Religious Discourse
Islamabad – 2 April 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : The Egyptian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, recently held a meeting with Sheikh Taher Mahmood Alashrafi, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Special Representative to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Religious Harmony and the Middle East.
The meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views on enhancing religious cooperation between Egypt and Pakistan, in light of their pivotal roles across the Islamic world, says press note.
Both sides emphasized the importance of promoting moderation, tolerance, and enlightened religious discourse, underscoring Egypt’s distinguished experience and the pivotal role of its esteemed religious institutions in fostering a balanced and well-informed understanding of Islam.
Discussions also covered the latest regional developments, with both sides reaffirming the importance of de-escalation, and the primacy of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing ongoing challenges and preserving regional stability.
