From Benazir Income Support Programme to Aurat Foundation, Pakistan’s women empowerment initiatives gain momentum
Lahore – 27 January 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : ThinkFest 2026 The Netherlands Ambassador to Pakistan Robert-Jan Siegert emphasized the importance of women’s economic empowerment during her visit to ThinkFest2026 in Lahore.
He met with local entrepreneurs, learning about their journeys and businesses, and praised initiatives like Bargad Organization for Youth Development’s project, which trains women in business skills and connects them to markets with Embassy suppor.
Women’s empowerment initiatives in Pakistan are gaining momentum, focusing on economic, social, and political inclusion. Key programs include the Benazir Income Support Programme, Punjab Women Empowerment Initiatives, and organizations like Aurat Foundation and Kashf Foundation promoting entrepreneurship and education.
ThinkFest2026, on the other hand, seems to be an event focused on entrepreneurship and leadership, with the Dutch Ambassador highlighting women’s economic empowerment as a key topic.
