Danish Envoy Launches Climate Resilience Project in Thatta

Ambassador Linulf visits coastal communities under Denmark-AKF partnership


Islamabad –24 July 2025 (Adnan Hameed) : The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) hosted Danish Ambassador Jakob Linulf in Thatta for the official launch of the SCRIP Project — a strategic climate resilience initiative supported by the Government of Denmark in collaboration with the Aga Khan Foundation.

The project aims to strengthen climate resilience across some of Pakistan’s most vulnerable coastal communities.

During his visit, Ambassador Linulf met with the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Thatta, local government officials, civil society representatives, and members of various AKDN agencies. The discussions underscored a shared commitment to empowering communities through locally led and practical climate adaptation measures.

The Ambassador also visited project areas and witnessed a live demonstration by the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), showcasing their preparedness to respond to coastal hazards.

In Faiz Muhammad Baloch village, Ambassador Linulf met with residents, where 25 women received hygiene kits as part of a broader health and awareness effort. The initiative promotes safe hygiene practices and highlights the crucial role of women in building community resilience.

Ambassador Linulf praised the SCRIP Project’s inclusive and results-oriented approach, describing it as a model for bridging international support with local action to address climate challenges.
