Cuban Ambassador, Presidential Spokesperson Discuss Strengthening Pakistan-Cuba Relations
Islamabad – 3 September, 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero received Murtaza Solangi, spokesperson for Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and member of the presidential secretariat, at the embassy.
The Cuban Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the senior Pakistani official for the visit. Mr. Solangi noted that it was an honor to visit the embassy of the supportive Cuban people, who were the first to arrive and the last to leave during the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan.
Held in a cordial and respectful atmosphere, the meeting focused on reviewing issues of mutual interest to promote relations between Cuba and Pakistan across all possible sectors. During the discussion, the Cuban Ambassador briefed the presidential spokesperson on the difficult situation facing the Cuban nation—a result of the relentless intensification of the US government’s multidimensional blockade, coupled with the impact of an energy siege and military threats.

In turn, the presidential spokesperson expressed his appreciation for the update and, as a political analyst, presented the Cuban Ambassador with a book he recently authored.
At the end of the visit, the Pakistani presidential spokesperson toured the photo exhibition recently displayed at the embassy commemorating the centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. He also viewed the medical donations that Pakistani doctors trained in Cuba have begun organizing to send to Cuba as quickly as possible, a gesture he praised highly.
