Books Build Bridges Between Civilizations, Says Pakistan’s Consul General in Guangzhou
Guangzhou – 3 September 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : The Pakistan National Pavilion officially opened at the 2026 South China Book Fair held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.
The exhibition featured a range of cultural exhibits and literary works, marking Pakistan’s further expansion of its participation in the South China Book Fair, one of China’s largest and most influential book fairs, and highlighting the deep cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Founded in 1993, the South China Book Fair is a comprehensive book and cultural exhibition that adheres to the principles of public welfare, accessibility, mass participation, and high-quality curation. This year’s book fair covers an exhibition area of approximately 40,000 square meters and features 31 specialized pavilions.
According to a report by China News Network on Wednesday, more than 300 publishing institutions from home and abroad showcased over 500,000 publications and cultural and creative products, as well as nearly 30,000 original foreign language books.
At the opening ceremony of the Eurasia Pavilion, Pakistan’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Sardar Muhammad, emphasized that books are an eternal bridge connecting different languages, ethnicities, and civilizations.
The Eurasia Pavilion hosted a themed photography exhibition commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Three Pakistani companies and a leading publishing house from the country participated, bringing a rich variety of literary and cultural works.
Among the exhibitors, Ferozsons (Pvt.) Ltd., a Pakistani publisher whose history dates back to 1894, brought authoritative Pakistani books and literary works, covering themes such as history, philosophy, contemporary novels and poetry, for exhibitors to display and exchange.
