LUMS, Kashgar-University Sign MoU to Strengthen Pakistan-China Academic Cooperation

Kashgar – 28 August 2026 (MT Team) : Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Kashgar University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand academic cooperation between Pakistan and China. The agreement covers student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, academic dialogue and broader institutional collaboration, reported by media.

The MoU was signed by LUMS Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon and Kashgar University President Prof. Palidan Tursun on August 14 during the 15th Xinjiang Kashgar–Central and South Asia Commodity Fair.

The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for academic exchanges and strengthen educational and people-to-people links between the two countries. Kashgar’s strategic location as a historic Silk Road hub and gateway connecting China with Central and South Asia further enhances its potential role as an academic bridge between Pakistan and China.

The signing took place alongside a major trade and investment fair that brought together more than 1,100 Chinese companies and 181 enterprises from 40 countries and regions, including Pakistan, highlighting growing economic, educational and institutional engagement between Pakistan, China and the wider region.
