NUTECH Launches Four Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Qualifications
Islamabad – 27 August 2026 (MT Team) : Under the TVET Sector Support Programme (TVET-SSP), co-funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany, four Level-6 Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics have been developed.
The initiative has been implemented by the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in collaboration with the National Technology Council (NTC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The initiative aims to strengthen the quality, relevance and international alignment of engineering technology education in Pakistan by equipping graduates with advanced, industry-oriented competencies responsive to national and international labour-market requirements.
As a key academic and institutional partner, NUTECH has played a central role in the development of the Level-6 qualifications and associated interventions, including coaching and mentoring, laboratory upgradation and Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes. These interventions are intended to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure effective delivery of modern, outcome-oriented engineering technology education.
A launch ceremony was held at NUTECH on 24 August 2026, bringing together senior representatives from the European Union, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, GIZ, NTC, industry and academia.
During the ceremony, Project Director Engr. Naveed Yusuf presented an overview of the development process, highlighting the key interventions, milestones and implementation timeline of the Project.
In his welcome address, Rector NUTECH and Chairman NTC, Lt Gen Moazzam Ejaz, HI(M) (Retd), appreciated the contributions and collaboration of all stakeholders and expressed his gratitude to the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany for their support to this important initiative. He underscored the significance of strong national and international partnerships in strengthening Pakistan’s technical and technology education ecosystem.
Dr. Manuel Winkenbach, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, highlighted the potential of the initiative to create enhanced employment opportunities for Pakistan’s youth, both nationally and internationally. He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting quality TVET and skills development in Pakistan.
Jeroen Willems, Head of Cooperation, European Union, reaffirmed the EU’s continued support for Pakistan’s TVET sector through strategic partnerships. He stressed the importance of inclusive and integrated implementation of the Level-6 qualifications and their curricula across the country.
The launch marks an important milestone in the collective efforts of national and international partners to modernise Pakistan’s technical education landscape.
Through NUTECH’s academic leadership and the collaborative support of the European Union, the Federal Republic of Germany, NTC and GIZ, the initiative is expected to strengthen linkages between education, industry and employment, while providing Pakistan’s youth with advanced, industry-relevant skills.
