Nepal Embassy and Maroof International Hospital Mark First International Wellness Day in Islamabad with Call for Holistic Health Approach

The Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad, in collaboration with Maroof International Hospital, observed the first International Wellness Day with a joint event bringing together diplomats, healthcare professionals, wellness experts, and students to promote a holistic approach to health and well-being.
The occasion follows the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution declaring 15 April as International Wellness Day, an initiative led by Nepal and supported internationally, highlighting wellness as a multidimensional concept encompassing physical, mental, emotional, social, and environmental well-being.
The program opened with a message from the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, who emphasized wellness as a pillar of sustainable development and acknowledged Nepal’s leadership in advancing the global initiative.
In her remarks, H.E Ambassador Ms. Rita Dhital of Nepal highlighted the importance of collaboration in promoting wellness and appreciated Maroof International Hospital’s role in strengthening engagement between diplomatic and healthcare communities.
Mr. Haroon Naseer, Chief Executive Officer of Maroof International Hospital, thanked the Embassy of Nepal and Ambassador Rita Dhital for hosting the initiative and acknowledged Nepal’s leadership in advancing the UN resolution. He stressed the need to shift towards preventive, lifestyle-focused healthcare and reaffirmed Maroof’s commitment to integrated and community-based wellness approaches.
Medical experts from Maroof International Hospital contributed through interactive sessions. Dr. Rubia Usman led a practical wellness and yoga session, Ms. Zubia Zubair spoke on mental health awareness and resilience, and Dr. Sarah Kiran highlighted physical wellness and lifestyle management.
The event witnessed active participation from students and young professionals, underscoring the importance of youth engagement in long-term health awareness.
The program concluded with a symbolic wellness walk at the E-7 cycling trail, jointly led by the Embassy of Nepal and Maroof International Hospital, reinforcing the message that wellness must be practiced in daily life.
