U.S.-Israeli Actions in Iran Threaten Regional Stability, Says Russian Ambassador
Russia Rejects Nuclear Allegations Against Iran, Criticizes Western Military Pressure
Khorev Highlights Humanitarian Impact of Sanctions, Calls for Immediate International Action
Islamabad – 17 March, 2026 (Adnan Hameed) : Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev has termed the ongoing U.S.-Israeli actions against Iran as a culmination of prolonged Western pressure on Tehran’s leadership, warning that the situation has significantly escalated tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement, he said economic sanctions imposed on Iran have primarily affected ordinary citizens and worsened the human rights situation, citing concerns previously raised by Volker TĂĽrk.

The ambassador rejected allegations against Iran, stating that claims regarding its nuclear weapons ambitions lack evidence, referring to remarks by Rafael Grossi that no proof exists of such development.
He further alleged that the United States and Israel aim to destabilize Iran’s political system and leadership. The statement also condemned attempts to create divisions within the Islamic world, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Expressing strong condemnation, Khorev termed the reported assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials as a grave violation of international law. He also denounced an attack on a girls’ school in Minab that resulted in the deaths of around 170 children.
The Russian envoy called on all parties to avoid further military confrontation and emphasized the need for a political and diplomatic resolution in line with the UN Charter and nuclear non-proliferation principles.
