Pakistan has received four oil cargo ships carrying more than 176,000 metric tonnes of petrol and diesel to help stabilize the country’s fuel supply as global oil prices rise and regional tensions continue to impact energy markets.
The shipments have begun arriving at Port Qasim, a major energy import hub near Karachi. One vessel has already started offloading approximately 37,000 tonnes of diesel, while three additional ships carrying 50,000 tonnes, 55,000 tonnes, and 34,000 tonnes of petrol are expected to unload their cargo in the coming days.
Officials say the imports are part of efforts to prevent fuel shortages and maintain stable supplies across the country. Pakistan relies heavily on imported petroleum products to meet domestic demand, making timely shipments crucial during periods of global energy uncertainty.
The latest deliveries are expected to ease pressure on the national fuel supply chain and support continued availability of petrol and diesel for transportation, industry, and power generation.
