Japan Signs GGP Grant Agreements Worth USD 85,429 to Support Healthcare and Infrastructure in Pakistan
Islamabad – 3 February 2026 (MT Team) : The Government of Japan has decided to provide grant assistance amounting to USD 85,429 (approximately PKR 23.9 million) to two local NGOs in Pakistan under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program. The grant contracts were signed on February 3, 2026, at the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad between Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and representatives of Bin Qutab Foundation and Saibaan Development Organization.
Under the grant, Bin Qutab Foundation will receive USD 55,230 (PKR 15.5 million) for the construction of a Maternal and Child Healthcare Center at Begum Noor Memorial Hospital in rural District Chakwal, Punjab. The facility will be equipped with essential medical equipment and provide 24-hour safe delivery services, emergency obstetric care, and neonatal services, benefiting over 10,000 patients annually, particularly women and children from underserved communities.

Meanwhile, Saibaan Development Organization will receive USD 30,199 (PKR 8.4 million) for the improvement of a link road in Village Makrriha, District Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The project includes road pavement and construction of protection walls, improving mobility, safety, and access to healthcare, education, and markets for more than 2,400 direct beneficiaries and thousands of indirect beneficiaries.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu emphasized Japan’s long-standing cooperation with Pakistan in addressing basic human needs such as health, education, and infrastructure. He noted that the GGP Program focuses on community-level, face-to-face assistance through capable local NGOs to ensure sustainable development and enhanced human security across Pakistan.
