Pakistan–China Friendship Grows Stronger with Time, Global Changes: Muzammil Aslam

Peshawar – 30 January 2026 (MT Team) : Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance, Muzammil Aslam, has said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is among the rare examples in the world that has continued to grow stronger with the passage of time, changing circumstances, and global transformations. He said this relationship is not merely diplomatic or economic in nature, but a living bond based on trust, respect, brotherhood, and mutual cooperation, which has consistently brought the two countries closer to each other in every era.

He expressed these views while addressing a grand ceremony organized by China Window to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan–China friendship and the Spring Festival. Former governors Haji Ghulam Ali and Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Dawood Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Bishop Ernest Jacob, members of the business community, journalists, intellectuals, students, and a large number of people from various walks of life attended the event.

In his address, Muzammil Aslam said that Pakistan’s foresight and principled stance in recognizing the People’s Republic of China in 1951 is today, 75 years later, evident to the world in the form of a strong and sustainable partnership. He paid rich tribute to the organizers of China Window for arranging the event.

Muzammil Aslam said that the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the flagship project of Pak–China friendship, which has given a new direction to Pakistan’s economy. He said that energy projects under CPEC have significantly reduced the electricity crisis, motorways and highways have connected the country from north to south, while Gwadar Port has placed Pakistan at an important position on the regional and global trade map.

He further said that the establishment of Special Economic Zones is creating new opportunities for investment, industrial development, and employment. He emphasized that China has always treated Pakistan as an equal partner, which is why there is immense love and respect for China among the people of Pakistan.

Addressing the ceremony, former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali said that Pakistan demonstrated foresight and principled policy by recognizing the People’s Republic of China in 1951, as a result of which bilateral relations have today taken the shape of a strong fortress. He said China has stood by Pakistan in every difficult time, whether during wars, natural disasters, or global pressure. Praising China Window, he said the institution has become an effective platform for promoting Pakistan–China friendship.

Former Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that the greatest strength of Pakistan–China friendship is that it is based not on “give and take” but on trust and mutual respect. He said the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the flagship project of this friendship, which has played a significant role in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, and industrial development. He added that CPEC is proving to be a game changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region. He also appreciated the services of China Window, calling it a strong source of people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Dawood Khan, in his address, said that transferring Pakistan–China friendship to the new generation is an important need of the time. He emphasized that this relationship should be further strengthened through educational, cultural, and media linkages. He said institutions like China Window are commendably promoting Pakistan–China friendship at the grassroots level.
At the end of the ceremony, a cake was cut to mark the 75th anniversary of Pakistan–China friendship, and shields were distributed among the participants.
