Moroccan Embassy Celebrates 26th Throne Day Anniversary in Islamabad

Ambassador Karmoune Highlights Morocco’s Economic Progress and Investment Potential

Islamabad – July 31, 2025 (Adnan Hameed): The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Pakistan hosted a grand diplomatic reception in Islamabad to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne. The event celebrated the Moroccan monarch’s enduring leadership and the nation’s remarkable progress under his rule.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, attended the reception as the Chief Guest, symbolizing the strong and friendly bilateral ties between Morocco and Pakistan. The evening commenced with the national anthems of both nations, followed by a ceremonial cake-cutting adorned with the flags of Morocco and Pakistan.

In his welcome address, Ambassador of Morocco Mohamed Karmoune expressed gratitude for the presence of Minister Rana Tanveer. Ambassador highlighted the importance of Throne Day as an annual opportunity to renew the bonds of mutual allegiance between the Moroccan people and their Sovereign, and to reflect on national progress and challenges ahead. “Since the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne 26 years ago, the pillars of economic and social progress have been strengthened. Morocco has maintained a more competitive, diversified, and open economy despite worsening international crises.”

He noted that Morocco’s industrial exports have more than doubled since 2014, particularly in sectors such as automotive, aviation, renewable energy, food industries, and tourism—sectors that now serve as critical levers for Morocco’s emerging economy through both investment and job creation.

The Ambassador further emphasized Morocco’s growing international partnerships: “As an emerging country, Morocco is today characterized by the vast, diversified array of its partners. Its economy is linked to nearly three billion consumers worldwide, thanks to the free trade agreements the country has signed.”

Touching on Morocco’s ongoing development efforts, he shared that the country is engaged in large-scale projects in water management, desalination, food security, infrastructure, and energy sovereignty, aimed at improving living standards across all regions.

Extending an invitation to Pakistani stakeholders, the Ambassador stated: “I invite Pakistani investors and businesses to invest in these development projects or set up their own enterprises to benefit from the investment incentives Morocco offers and access to foreign markets with which we have signed free trade agreements—such as the EU, Turkey, USA, UAE, Egypt, and others.”

In his keynote address, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain congratulated His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Government of Morocco, and the Moroccan people on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan. He commended Morocco’s achievements in sustainable development, regional cooperation, and governance, describing the National Day as a celebration of Morocco’s rich heritage and steady journey toward peace and prosperity.

“Morocco’s remarkable transformation stands as a beacon of stability and development. Our relations, rooted in shared faith, history, and values, have only deepened over the years,” he said.

He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressed the need to expand bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, leather, and IT, academic and cultural exchanges, the Minister proposed joint research initiatives and student programs to strengthen people-to-people ties. He also acknowledged Morocco’s leadership in interfaith harmony, renewable energy, and climate adaptation, calling for shared learning in these areas.


Concluding his address, Minister Rana Tanveer expressed appreciation for the Moroccan Embassy’s efforts in advancing bilateral relations and praised Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune’s leadership. “Morocco and Pakistan enjoy a brotherly relationship with vast untapped potential. Together, we must continue to explore new avenues of cooperation for mutual growth and regional peace,” he stated.

The event concluded on a high note, reflecting the commitment of both nations to deepen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties in the years ahead.
