Pak-China religious leaders denounce terrorism

Pakistani and Chinese Religious Leaders discussed ways to Contest Extremism and Terrorism and declared Terrorism Crime against Humanity


Urumqi – 24 July 2025 (Adnan Hameed) : During the official visit of a Pakistani religious delegation to the Xinjiang, Chinese autonomous region, Pakistani and Chinese religious leaders held formal talks in the headquarter of Islamic Association of Xinjiang Autonomous Region in Urumqi, China. Both the delegations discussed ways of cooperation between China and Pakistan for fruitful religious engagements and connectivity.

The head of Chinese delegation Mamat Ali, Full time Vice President of Islamic Association of Xinjiang Autonomous Region informed the Pakistani delegation that Muslims in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region are freely practising Islam. There are hundreds of mosques and madrasas in the region which are providing religious education of Quran and Sunnah to the Muslims of the religion. He also told the Pakistani delegation that there is no more terrorism in the region and no terrorist activity was held for last 10 years in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.

Head of Pakistani delegation Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif thanked the Chinese government for the hospitality and talked about the religious life of Pakistan. He also highlighted the religious diversity in Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-Ul-Haq briefed the participants about Pakistan’s initiative of Paigham-e Pakistan. He informed the Islamic Association of Xinjiang Autonomous Region that around 6000 Pakistani ulema have endorsed this proactive narrative. It is not only a narrative but a movement for peacebuilding and social reconstruction in Pakistan.

Sahibzada Adnan Qadri, KP Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, KP Minister for Social Welfare and Maulana Zubair Ashraf Usmani, Deputy President, Dar Ul Uloom Karachi talked on this occasion and briefed the Chinese Muslims about the religious life of Pakistan. Both parties agreed that we will work together for more close collaboration between Pakistan and China for better religious understandings.

Pakistani delegation is headed by Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Information Advisor of KP government. It is comprised over Sahibzada Adnan Qadri, KP Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, KP Minister for Social Welfare, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-Ul-Haq, Director General, Islamic Research Institute, IIUI and National Coordinator Paigham-e-Pakistan; Sikander Hayat Sheerpao, Deputy Chairman Qaumi Watan Party, Maulana Zubair Ashraf Usmani, Deputy President, Dar Ul Uloom Karachi, Maulana Anwar Shah, President Jamiaya Ahsan al Uloom, Karachi, Maulana Abdul Qadus Muhammadi, Spokesperson of Wafaq al Madarsi Al-Arbia, Maulana Usama Ajmal, Maulana Muhammad Ibrar and Maulana Shah Faisal.

The Chinese delegation was headed by Mamat Ali, Full time Vice President of Islamic Association of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Imam Bai Shengfu, Vice President of Islamic Association of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Adushukur Vice Chairman of Urumqi Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Wang Tingting and Mr. Li Pengcheng. Before the meeting Pakistani delegation visited Urumqi Shaanxi Mosque, Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, High-Tech Plant Factory Technology Development Co., Ltd and Yuejin Street South Community, Heijiashan Street. Pakistani religious delegation also visited Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center to inspect exhibition on counter-terrorism and anti-extremism in Xinjiang.

During this visit the Pakistani delegation was informed about the efforts of Chinese government for countering and prevention from violent extremism. It was informed that after curbing terrorism, the phases of social rehabilitation and economic prosperous have been achieved in the region with interfaith and inter-ethnic collaborations. They were informed that various religious and ethnic communities in the region are living peacefully and working hard for the social and economic development.

This visit is arranged by the Chinese government in collaboration with International Research Council for Religious Affairs (IRCRA) of Pakistan.
