As regional tensions escalate, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called upon the United States to take a constructive role in reducing friction between Pakistan and India. During a high-level meeting with U.S. diplomats, the Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of calm, responsible dialogue and de-escalation.
This appeal comes amid mounting concerns over India’s inflammatory rhetoric following recent violent incidents, including the Pahalgam terror attack. PM Shehbaz stressed that diplomacy and peace must be prioritized to prevent further instability in South Asia.
“The region cannot afford another escalation. The U.S. must play its part in fostering dialogue,” he stated.
The Pakistani government continues to uphold its position that dialogue is the only sustainable path to resolving longstanding issues. The leadership has consistently appealed to international powers, including the U.S., to support peace initiatives and encourage restraint from all sides.
This development follows the dual appointment of Lt Gen Asim Malik as both ISI Chief and National Security Adviser (NSA)—a strategic move aimed at enhancing internal-external coordination on national security matters.
Together, these steps indicate Pakistan’s renewed commitment to regional peace, strategic diplomacy, and proactive conflict prevention.
