Pakistan Fined for Slow Over-Rate in ODIs Against New Zealand

Pakistan’s national cricket team has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their recent One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand. The International Cricket Council (ICC) imposed fines following back-to-back infractions in the first two matches of the series.

In the first ODI in Napier, the team was found to be two overs short of the required rate, resulting in a 10% deduction of the match fee for each player. The issue persisted into the second ODI in Hamilton, where the team fell one over short, triggering a 5% match fee fine.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan accepted both sanctions on behalf of the team, which avoided the need for formal hearings.

These consecutive penalties shed light on a recurring issue for Pakistan, who have previously struggled to maintain over-rate requirements in international fixtures. The ICC has been firm in enforcing its code of conduct to ensure timely play and fair competition.

As the team continues its international campaign, improving time management and field discipline will be crucial to avoid further sanctions and maintain a strong competitive edge.
