Maulana Hamidul-Haq’s funeral held amid heavy security

Maulana Hamidul-Haq’s funeral was held amid tight security in Akora Khattak, where a large number of people, including Afghan Consul General, gathered to pay their respects. Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S), was martyred in a suicide blast at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Nowshera district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The attack, which took place after Friday prayers, claimed multiple lives.

Following the tragic incident, a massive crowd assembled at the madrassa as Maulana Sahibzada Abdul Haq Sani, the son of Maulana Hamidul-Haq, led the funeral prayers. To ensure security, authorities deployed a significant number of police forces around Darul Uloom Haqqania and installed scanners at entry points.

Alongside Maulana Hamidul-Haq’s funeral, two other martyrs, Abdul Waheed from Swabi and renowned poet and writer Tajamul Shah, also known as Tajamul Farhan, were laid to rest. Abdul Waheed’s funeral was held in his native village of Zida, while Tajamul Shah was buried in Jalsai.

Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed visited Nowshera to assess security measures for the funeral and held a meeting at the DPO office with regional officers and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials. The Regional Police Officer provided a briefing on the ongoing investigation into the bombing.

The Inspector General strongly condemned the attack on the madrassa, calling it a cowardly act aimed at destabilizing the nation. He urged law enforcement agencies to utilize all professional resources to bring the perpetrators to justice. Emphasizing resilience, he assured that such acts of terrorism would not weaken national resolve, reaffirming the police’s commitment to restoring peace in the country.
