AMAN 2025: Strengthening Global Maritime Security Through Unity

The Pakistan Navy proudly hosted the 9th Multinational Naval Exercise AMAN 2025, bringing together over 60 nations, including regional and extra-regional naval forces, in Karachi. Themed “Together for Peace,” this prestigious event highlighted the urgent need for unified action against piracy, terrorism, and environmental threats in the Indian Ocean Region.

Since its inception in 2007, the AMAN Exercise has evolved into a premier biennial event, fostering regional stability and enhancing interoperability among naval forces. The term **‘AMAN’—meaning peace in Urdu—**captures its core mission: uniting maritime nations for collective security and shared interests. Through this collaborative platform, navies worldwide address pressing maritime challenges, emphasizing intelligence-sharing, mutual understanding, and joint operational readiness to ensure safe and sustainable seas.

A Testament to Pakistan’s Commitment
Hosting AMAN-2025 underscores the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering dedication to global maritime security. The largest edition to date, held from February 7 to 11, 2025, welcomed naval vessels and delegations from China, the US, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, France, Azerbaijan, Oman, Kuwait, Bangladesh, and African Union nations. The diverse representation reaffirmed a global commitment to collaborative maritime security and the exchange of strategic ideas on naval operations, law enforcement, and countering criminal networks.

Interagency Collaboration:s
Beyond naval cooperation, AMAN-2025 highlighted the critical role of interagency partnerships. Collaboration between naval and law enforcement agencies, including the Sindh Police and Naval Police, played a vital role in ensuring comprehensive security for the event. Around 2,500 personnel from the Security Division of the Sindh Police were deployed, reinforcing the importance of joint operations in countering smuggling, human trafficking, and piracy.

Participating in AMAN-2025 was a profound experience, not just as a police officer but also as someone with a naval background. The advancements in training, technology, and operational capabilities showcased how far Pakistan has progressed in modernizing its security forces.
